Fujimoto and Li drove the rapid evolution of optical coherence tomography, advancing frequency-domain and swept-source implementations that enabled high-speed, high-resolution in vivo imaging. Chen and Boppart expanded multimodal, computer-assisted sensing with polarization-sensitive and spectral-domain OCT, tissue characterization, and hardware–software co-design for reliable diagnostic workflows. Ozcan exemplified computational sensing and lensless optics, delivering quantification through algorithmic reconstruction, smartphone-enabled metrology, and cross-disciplinary toolchains that aligned measurement standards with practical biomedical applications.
